The Susan G. Komen for the Cure Organization Controversy
By Holistic Wisdom
You may have heard of
BPA (A.K.A. Bisphenol A) as being in plastics and something that is
bad for you. You may have noticed many manufacturers are now making
BPA Free plastics and advertising it as a reason to purchase their
products. So what is so bad about it? BPA is known an endocrine
disruptor, which may lead to negative health effects such as but no
limited to- erectile dysfunction, reduced sexual desire,
preeclampsia, pregnancy loss, asthma, heart disease, diabetes,
liver dysfunction, obesity, reproductive dysfunction, neurological
dysfunction, thyroid dysfunction, memory loss, hyperactivity,
colonic inflammation, ADHD, increased risk of cancer (especially
prostate and breast cancer).
Some regulatory agencies have stated that they are safe, however, they always indicate there is a need for more testing and never address the studies that have been done that show the health risks above. Also, if you follow the money, some of those that claim safety of BPA products are receiving funding from makers of products that contain BPA.
In 2007, government-funded BPA experiments done on lab animals and tissue samples were found to have153 adverse health effects and only 14 did not. All thirteen of the studies that were funded by chemical corporations reported no harm. Their motivations are obvious and it is cause for alarm.
Recently, the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization came under fire when they posted statements on their website dismissing links between BPA and breast cancer. Turns out that there have been generous funding by companies that use BPA in their products.
Examples of such companies are the Coca-Cola Bottling Company, General Mills, Georgia-Pacific, 3M DS Waters. These companies that sport the pink seal of approval from the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization actually have BPA in them.
So what was response from Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization when confronted about these links? Komen's chief scientific adviser, Dr. Eric Winer, was quoted as saying "If a woman is particularly worried about plastics, she can avoid plastics in her life." Not very reassuring and not terribly supportive of the interests of the very women and men that support them.
Please note we are in no way saying that the Komen organization is a bad one. We do know that they help many women with their over 2 billion in funding. However, one would think that they would at least concede on their website that BPA has been linked to some studies that indicate possible health risks.

Cure for Breast Cancer Discovered?
By Holistic Wisdom
Penn State College of Medicine have discovered
that the adeno-associated virus type 2 (AAV2) virus can kill all
grades of breast cancer within 7 days. It also worked on cervical
cancer cells.
This natural virus is carried by up to 80% of people and does not cause harm or disease. Let's just hope that it is not discarded if drug companies cannot make millions off of it as it sounds very promising!
